The door style is the first thing anyone notices about a kitchen. Before you fall in love with a finish, it helps to understand how the three most popular profiles behave day to day.
Shaker
A clean recessed center panel with a square frame. Timeless, works in traditional and modern homes alike, and hides wear well. The slight ledge needs an occasional wipe — a fair trade for its versatility.
Slab
A single flat panel with no frame. The most modern, minimal look, and the easiest to wipe clean. Slab fronts show off dramatic wood grain and high-gloss or matte finishes beautifully.
Inset
Doors set flush inside the cabinet frame for a precise, furniture-grade look. The most expensive option, and worth it for a high-end, built-in feel.
